Respite Developmental Daycare Center
Respite Developmental Daycare is a unique learning center, providing care and learning enhancements to children from 6 weeks to 6 years of age, weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Enrollment of school-aged children is provided during scheduled school holidays and breaks. The daycare provides preschool intervention through activities designed to increase learning opportunities, improving kindergarten readiness and promoting the achievement of each child’s maximum academic capabilities. Field trips are planned throughout the year so that children have the opportunities often only offered to their non-disabled peers. Participating children may receive therapeutic supports while in care, reducing the rate of absenteeism for working parents.
Respite Developmental Daycare affords families the opportunity to secure employment or pursue educational goals. Care is provided to children with developmental disabilities and their non-disabled siblings, creating an inclusive and comfortable learning environment.
Through a collaborative approach with CentroMed, on-site medical and nursing services are provided by a team of skilled pediatric specialists to children with complex medical diagnoses who require procedures such as G-tube feedings and nebulizer treatments.
All fees for Daycare services are on a sliding fee scale, based upon household income.
Day/Night Out Services
Mother’s Day Out is a childcare service offered two days per week, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., on the west side of San Antonio. Preschool age children with disabilities and their non-disabled siblings within the same age group may participate. The availability of Mother’s Day Out service allows parents to pursue educational goals, obtain part-time employment or have some time for themselves.
Family Day Out programs are offered at geographically diverse locations in the community on Saturdays. This care for the child with special needs allows time for the non-disabled family members to spend quality time together. Often, this is the only time the other children in the family get special attention from their parents. Siblings are welcome.
Parents Night Out programs provide Friday or Saturday evening care for children with special needs and their siblings, so that the parents can enjoy time alone, in pursuit of their own interests or have a date night with their significant other — reconnecting as a couple.
